Informal Fun Racing at Sail Haven - Sail Haven is having a Fun Racing Series. We will be sailing 420s, Lasers, and Sunfish. Racing Clinic: Wednesday, June xx, 6pm - 7pm. Discussion of what sailboat racing is, what the basic rules are, and basic strategies for racing. Lead by Joel Zackin. More here. Fun Spring Racing Series 2026 : Thursday Evenings at 5:30pm-7pm on 6/4, 6/11, 6/18, 6/25, & 7/2. Fun Summer Racing Series 2026 : Thursday Evenings at 5:30pm-7pm on 7/9, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, & 8/27 & 9/3. Fun Fall Racing Series 2026: Saturday Early Afternoons at 1pm-3pm on 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17. Please check the Calendar to confirm we are racing. We will be racing Lasers, Sunfish and 420s. All are welcome to join in the fun, no racing experience is required. All participants will be asked to help in the Race Committee Boat, again no experience necessary. Scores may, or may not be recorded! Racing is a great way to improve your sailing skills. Racing involves focus on the boats around you and the racecourse. Sailing the boat becomes more automatic, more second nature. Sailing with friends and against friends is fun. One may not win races, but moments of brilliance on the course or around the marks can be extremely satisfying. Guests for Racing: Our policy for guests at our racing is the same for our Open Sailing - Guests are unlimited as long as they are in your boat! Guests are always welcome in the race Committee Boat to spectate the races. All guests must sign in and fill out a Liability Form. Check In: Please check in with the Race Committee when you get to the race course. We would like to keep track of who is racing with us. Thank you! We are looking for some folks with the Safe Boating Certificate (CT’s or any state’s) to drive the powerboat/Race Committee Boat (although, most of the time it will be anchored). If you would like to volunteer (and you can also participate in the racing if you like) email sailhaven@canaldock.org and state what days you can help with the race committee boat. |
